Reed Relays and India
Their company Reed Relays and Electronics India Limited (RRE), was incorporated in the year 1971 with a technical joint venture with F.R Electronics, a division of Flight Refuelling Limited. The technical agreement lasted a good 20 years and both parties benefited by this association.
Subsequent to F.R Electronics shutting down their operations in Reed Switches, their agreement ceased to exist and they went independent from there on. They have since then evolved into an experienced reed switch production house capable of developing new reed-based products, advanced test equipment & measurement systems and high accuracy plating process. Today, their product list is comprehensive and full, and cater to a wide range of application areas in the market.
In the year 2009 ,they decided to shift to a new location as there was a need to build a new factory with the latest technology in construction as well as designing energy efficient equipment. They also installed a Solar plant as the first stage in reducing their dependency on fossil fuels and consequently more environment friendly. Their goal is to source 60-70% of our total power requirements from renewable sources over the next couple of years. The new location is 3000 feet above sea level, and has a salubrious climate and lower ambient temperature which reduces the overall power consumption in air conditioning for the Clean Rooms, thereby reducing our Carbon footprint.
They had also taken steps to become a total engineering solution provider in the field of Reed Switch products by installing excellent support facilities like the latest CNC milling machines, CNC sparking and a substantial tool room which give them the strength in designing and developing customized tools required for the production of reed-based products to specific needs. Today, they have developed into a special product manufacturing company and supports their customers with confidence.
In continuing to make the factory more environment friendly, the other area that grabbed their attention was their precious plating shop. In 2012, they went out of wet plating and into the Sputtering process to coat all their reed contacts. They are one of the first to get into vacuum deposition of Ruthenium directly on Reed Switch blades and this particular development has increased the overall life and reliability of the end products by as much as 30%.
